Interstate Vehicle Documentation
Guidance when a transaction crosses state lines and the requirements are unclear.
How we help
Some transactions sit between two states' rules — a vehicle bought in one state, owned in another and registered in a third. Tell us the states and the transaction, and we will review what documentation applies.
We prepare and review the paperwork before it is submitted, so a missed signature or an incorrect assignment does not send you back to the counter. Bring the documents below to our West Babylon office — or call first if you are unsure whether something applies to your transaction.
Documents you may need
Requirements can vary by transaction. We confirm the exact list when you contact us.
- Photo identification
- All titles and registrations involved
- Purchase or transfer documentation
- Proof of insurance
- Details of both states involved
What to expect
Submit a request or call and we will confirm what applies to your vehicle, explain any government fees, and tell you when to come in. Processing times are set by the DMV and vary by transaction, so we never promise same-day completion.
Long Island Express Tags is an independent DMV service business, licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYS DMV). We are not a government agency or an official DMV office, and our service fees are separate from applicable government DMV fees.
